Upcoming Metro Vancouver Art Events and Christmas Fairs 2017

Another happy Friday hello to all our artists, photographers and crafters out there! It's getting to be that time of the year again: Christmas season is one of the best times for creatives to sell their wares, and various craft and art festivals have opened their submission dates! We've listed some calls for artists that seem particularly interesting below ...we don't want you to miss out on any chances to sell or exhibit your work!

Winter Treasures, The Fine Art of Holiday Giving: OCT 16 

Show & Sale Runs: November 9, 2017 - December 21, 2017

Port Moody Arts Centre is celebrating the holiday season with our much anticipated 4th annual Winter Treasures. It is an elegant, boutique style, show and sale. We invite artists and artisans in all media to submit 2D and 3D artwork and fine craft that is suitable for holiday gift giving. Previous shows have included painting, printmaking, jewelry, woodwork, metalwork, stone, glass, ceramics, as well as textile and leatherwork. Preference will be given to smaller works in a variety of price ranges up to $500.00. Artists will be encouraged to replenish sold artwork during the run of the show.

ACT Art Gallery Ensemble 2017: OCT 16

The ACT Art Gallery invites artists working at all levels, and in all mediums, to submit for consideration a small collection of artwork (an ensemble) for this year’s Ensemble show. Now in its 8th year, the concept of this exhibition is to give each artist the opportunity to show a small collection of artworks that are related by one or several unifying elements such as theme, medium, size, etc. In addition, size specifications as outlined in the guidelines must be strictly observed.

Semiahmoo Holiday Market: NOV 2

All crafters and artisans are welcome to participate in our Holiday Art Market in the contemporary Turnbull Gallery in South Surrey Recreation and Arts Centre.  The South Surrey Recreation and Arts Centre is a fully accessible hub for health, wellness and creativity for everyone in the community from preschool to seniors.

Annonymous Art Show (North Vancouver): OCT 28

The North Vancouver Community Arts Council & CityScape Community Art Space are very excited to announce the 13th Annual “Anonymous Art Show”.  This group exhibition and fundraising event will include the work of emerging and established artists, strictly 2D on unframed 8” x 8” x 1½” back stapled canvas or wood cradle panel.

Artists are encouraged to participate in this worthwhile event as it is a significant fundraiser for the many valuable community programmes, projects and events of the Arts Council. Artists are required to sign only the back of the canvas as the paintings are displayed anonymously. Each piece is priced at $100. Sales are divided 50/50 between the artist and the NVCAC.  Purchased paintings are immediately taken off the wall and given to the purchaser. In its place a sold tag will reveal the artist’s name.

Place Des Arts Christmas Boutique:  OCT 29

Each November and December, Place des Arts’ Artisan Shop expands into a fine craft market: The Christmas Boutique. Offering holiday shoppers a veritable Aladdin’s cave of glittering bobbles and delightful seasonal gifts, the Christmas Boutique is the perfect place to find beautifully handcrafted, locally made artisan wares.
